How 2 Find A Job...

Welcome to my blog...

Introduction:

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Mark D. Lingo and I have created this blog to help individuals find a job. Some will find work after a long bout with unemployment, some will use this blog to change careers, but my overall goal is to provide you with the information that will help you to care for yourself and your families.

I have seen television programs inwhich they were discussing families who were living on the streets because they cant find a job. I think it is so sad. Especially when there are jobs out there. I firmly believe those like myself who have the ability to relay the appropriate information to people, need to start doing so.

Technology Creates Opportunities:

I know we are all facing a tough economic time. The economy appears to be in a recession. There seems to be a lack of employment opportunities. People dont know where to go and what to do to find work. I can understand this. Things are changing folks. The employment opportunities in the good old USA, just aren't what they used to be. Everything is changing. Technology has taken over. These technological advancements are creating an overwhelming need for people to fill positions in that industry. Take advantage. I would advise anyone who is interested in technology, to search your local employment classifieds and see which technology jobs seem to have the most openings. Call around and talk to Human Resource professionals at your local companies and ask them which technological jobs are in the highest demand. You would be surprised what a little education will get you these days. How about...More income!!!???

Insurance Is Becoming The Next Gold Rush:

Another thing to be considered is this: With so many people on unemployment, it has to be creating a burden on the medical industry in the sense that people dont have health insurance to pay for their medical treatments. This is creating a lucrative opportunity for people to get involved in the insurance business. The insurance business isn't that hard to tap into and can produce some very high incomes for those who are willing to apply themselves. Did you know that ObamaCare is requiring senior citizens to carry insurance for the first time ever? I mean the government isn't just requiring it, but they're fining seniors 12 cents per month for every month they didn't have health insurance, since the age of 62. This is creating an overwhelming demand for health insurance agents to sell policies to seniors. I mean they are forcing seniors to buy health insurance! Can you believe that? Anyway, that's why I say insurance is the next gold rush. Because there is so much money to be made selling policies to seniors right now. And most are purchasing life insurance right along with the health policies. If you want to get into a high income yeilding, fast track career, then I must suggest insurance. If you want to persue this career, I would suggest checking your local classifieds, craigslist, and most of all, Monster.com. I posted a simple resume on Monster.com and had three different insurance companies offer me positions the very next day. And i must tell you I have no experience at all in insurance.

Long Live The Medical Industry:

Lets look at another industry that is seriously booming even in this tough economy. This industry is of course is the medical industry. There is such an overwhelming need for medical professionals that nursing homes and hospitals are offering training for those interested in getting into nursing and other areas. A person who really needs to produce a high income quickly, can simply sign up for CNA (certified nursing assistant) training with a hospital or nursing home, and immediately make a great income. These classes normally take 2 - 5 weeks to complete and are not difficult. The golden opportunity with nursing is that there is so much demand that most facilities will allow you to work all the overtime you want. It's not unusual for a Certified Nursing Assistant to make $10 - $15 per hour and bring home $1800 - $2000 after taxes every two weeks. These jobs pay well because of the overtime. You must be willing to work long hours to make good money in this field. If you really need a fast track career that pays good, I would highly recommend it. I will elaborate more on this subject soon. I will be posting links to help those interested to get started in this field.

Installation Services:

Another field that i found to pay very well is installion services. By this, I mean installing things such as satellite tv, cable installations and so forth. People may be sitting at home on unemployment but the sattelite tv and cable services are still selling alot of packages. You can find these opportunities in newspapers or by calling your local provider and asking to speak to the installation department. Inform them you are interested in becoming an installation technician. All the ones I spoke to offered free training. The pay is usually so much per installation. My local sattelite service pays $35 per dish for new technicians. After 90 days, the pay goes up to $50 per dish installation and they provide a company vehicle., In the installation business, it's best to just use your imagination and call any company that provides a product that requires installation and ask them how to become an installation technician.

Fast Food Is A Fast Career:

It also amazes me how well the food service industry does even in a bad economy. These places hire quite frequently but the better paying positions are those which require you to know a little about working in the industry. So I'm gonna lay it all out on this one. I know so many people who have landed great jobs in food service and never spent one day in culinary school. They started out working for a fast food joint and after around six months of employment, they began applying to the better paying restaurants and got hired. This is another industry where you can make a good income because you can work all the overtime hours you want. I mean if you think about it, theyre always hiring so it's not hard to get into. And theres so many of them that you can work for two different chains in the same town if you want. You could work two full time fast food jobs and make more than a college grad with a degree. I know college students hate to hear that but it's a fact that unless you're graduating at the top of your class, college graduates really cant expect to start out at a very high income. Of course they have the potential to make a high income eventually. Ok back to the subject of food service. Basically these jobs are easy to get. If you're interested in getting into food service, just apply to every local chain you have in your area untill one of them hires you. Once you get a little experience, you can pick up another position at a different chain if you want. These jobs are also usually flexible enough that it makes it easy to supplement your income with a part time sideline.

Part Time Opportunities:

Part time opportunities are also great in the sense that you can combine two part time jobs and make a full time income. I know an older lady that delivers newspapers and phonebooks. Both jobs are just part time and require little time. She makes a very good living doing both. I know another lady who drives a school bus and is a substitute teacher. She has combined these two part time jobs and created a good paying career out of it. She makes really good money and has been doing both jobs for many years. I'll go into more part time opportunities later. But for now I want to concentrate on those jobs that are out there. The jobs people could be working but dont know about. So lets move on...

Working For The Railroad:

How many do you know, including yourself, have ever thought about working for the railroad? hahaha. I know some of you readers are thinking "yeah been there and done that". lol. Ok, I'm gonna tell you what I found out. I was a little surprised but not shocked when I found out that the railroads are running such a buddy system, that there are people who are getting paid to get people hired. I mean there are people who will charge you money, take you by the hand, and get you a job at the railroad. Are you surprised?
I'm still talking to one of the guys whos doing this. I will post more on this subject later as I learn more. If it seems feasible, I'll give his contact information so anyone wanting to persue a career with the railroad can go through him. I'm not condoning paying someone to get you a job. But i know some of you are thinking "get me the phone number!" lol. The railroad is a good job, so I will post more when I find out more.

The Sales Industry:

Sales! Sales! Sales! Folks, I must tell you that one of the most lucrative fast track careers has always been sales. You can get into sales at anytime, and if you really apply yourself, you can make some really good money. With this industry the sky is the limmit. There are so many opportunities. This ranges from insurance to car sales, real estate (which isn't the best right now), but there are so many. Just check your local classifieds and monster.com and you'll get some ideas of sales opportunities you can persue.

The Cleaning Industry:

I cant possibly leave out the cleaning industry. My goodness...My aunt just started a business inwhich she cleans apartments between renters before theyre rented out. She is making really good money already and has only been in business for a little over a month. I guess the clean freaks amoung us are going to keep these people in business. lol. It seems to not matter what condition the economy is in. When it comes to cleaning, people will pay good money for it. Maybe it's because they just dont want to do it themselves. It's not a hard business to get into. You can always find cleaning businesses that are hiring by searching classifieds in newspapers and online. Or you can easily start your own cleaning business with just a few supplies and some flyers to mail out to local businesses. With this business, it's also good to give your prspective clients a call and maybe go by in person to talk to the manager in charge. Now I'm kind of getting into self employment opportunities. I'm not really ready to discuss that yet. I will in much detail later. So once again, lets move on...

Security Service:

Security is another big industry that always does well. I know when you think of security jobs you probably think of low pay. But these jobs are so easy to get and basically require very little work. If you wanted, you could work a security guard job and some other part time job at the same time and make good money. Something most people dont think about is the fact that once you get some experience in security, you can apply to work for outfits such as The Department Of Human Services, local arenas which host concerts and sporting events. There are many state offices, medical faciclities, hospitals, large office buildings, and so forth, that employ their own security guards. These positions pay good for the little amount of work you're required to do. Security guard companies normally dont pay very well but the chance for advancement is usually very good due to high turnover. This is just another industry where you can find a job if you really need one.

Tax Preparation:

At this time of year, I feel I must mention tax services. Many tax services are offering training to individuals who want to make a great income preparing taxes for people. This is a really great job to get into. It's very seasonal of course. But an extra $10,000 - $20,000 a year is very nice. Especially when you're only working about 5 months out of the year. And it's something you can do over and over, year after year. If you're interested in becoming a tax preparer, I would suggest calling your local tax offices and asking about a training program you can get into. I am going to post more on this subject soon, along with some links to some great tax preparation schools.

Education is the key:

In this tough economic time, it is absolutely a must to consider more education. Whether you go to some little CNA class, or attend a college, it is going to bennefit you. When I lost my job and went on unemployment, the first thing I did was enroll in the local techical school. I received money from the government in the from of financial aid and unemployment both. You wouldn't believe how much money the government will pay you to go to school. I have worked full time and attended school and with both I made very good money. The financial aid provided enough money, that if I divided it up over the months and added it to my monthy income, I was able to make twice as much money. I mean the government pays you a huge check for attending school. And if you use it to live on and work somewhere full time, you're going to do very well.
I would suggest anyone who is on unemployment, to check with their local universities and technical schools and see what is required for you to enroll. It usually doesnt take much.
